School Supplies and PTA

Hope you are doing well and ready for what we know will be a memorable year at Sand Point!

As in years past, your Sand Point Elementary PTA takes the stress and hassle out of school preparations and purchases all the school supplies needed for the start of the year! Sand Point teachers have decided what supplies their students will need to start this year off with success.

This year we are requesting that families pay a per-student supply fee, payable to Sand Point Elementary PTA (SPE PTA). Scholarships are also available on request. Please consider sponsoring student supply fees for those not able to pay the full amount. More information will be provided in the Welcome Packets that come home with students the first week of school.

We hope you will join us in supporting the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) as a member. Detailed information regarding what our PTA is all about and what we do will also be provided in the Welcome Packet. Your membership helps give parents a voice in everything we do to support Sand Point Elementary.

Join online: http://sandpointelementarypta.org/join/

Scholarships are also available for PTA memberships. Please complete the paper form to request one.

Thank you for your continued support of all our Sand Point Squirrels and the PTA. If you have any questions, please email [email protected].

Playdate at Sand Point – Tue August 24th from 2pm-3pm

Sand Point Elementary School’s strength is our Community. SPE PTA strives to create opportunities for connection for students and families, even with (or perhaps especially during) pandemic times. Organized by Sand Point PTA, this is a casual meetup at our Sand Point Playground. Just a quick opportunity to say “hello” and let kids run. Mask up and stop by!

Outdoor event only, prepare for no bathroom facilities at this time.

Let’s Rock This Boat: Sand Point SuperFonics Farewell Show

Hello Sand Point Families!
We know you’ve saved June 5, 2021 for the the big spring fundraiser and have been patiently waiting for the registration info, so here it is!

Last year we had to unfortunately postpone and then cancel our event, but now we are able to have it! LIVE and IN-PERSON! Our kids have been able to see each other, and now it’s our turn to finally be able to come together to support Sand Point Elementary

What: Let’s Rock This Boat: Sand Point SuperFonics Farewell Show
YES! This is the Farewell Show of our beloved Sand Point staff band. They are ready to entertain us with the best Yacht Rock cover songs you know and love!

WhenSaturday, June 5, 2021, 6:30 p.m. – 11 p.m.
Where: Seattle Yacht Club (no, we will not be boarding any boats, so no need to take dramamine) 1807 East Hamlin Street (just south of the Montlake Bridge)
Why: This our annual major spring fundraiser for Sand Point Elementary PTA. This event raises crucial funds for school enrichment activities such as music, science, art, field trips, library books, school supplies, PE and recess equipment, classroom grants, the Family Support Program, and more.

Who: Adults Only (21 and over) who want to come and support (Tickets are $80 each)**
Goal: $100,000

As you know, all fundraising the PTA does supports each and every student at Sand Point Elementary, as well as the staff. For instance, field trips are 100% covered so that no family has to worry about paying for their child to go on a field trip. Our library is fully stocked with new books (the district does not have a budget for school libraries). All of the recess and PE equipment is provided by the PTA through fundraising from events such as this. These are just a few examples of the things the PTA is able to do through the support of Sand Point families and friends supporting this event.

Register here by Thursday, May 27: https://sandpointelementarypta.schoolauction.net/spring2021/homepages/

Can’t make it, but want to make a donation? https://sandpointelementarypta.schoolauction.net/spring2021/g/

So come on out and celebrate in person all the good things our school does and will be able to continue to do from the generosity of this event. You do not want to miss the Sand Point SuperFonics (pandemic edition) Farewell Show!

**Inclusion is a value we hold close at Sand Point Elementary. And because of this, we want to be sure that all Sand Point Elementary parents and guardians are able to attend this adults-only event. If the cost of the $80 is prohibitive for you to attend, please register for the “Pay What You Can” ticket option and pay what you are able to for your ticket through the donation page.

See you on June 5th!

Move-a-Thon 2020

Move a Thon 2020
This Friday, December 4 from 2:30pm – 4:30pm, students can pick up their Move-A-Thon supplies for the Move-A-Thon on Friday, December 11 from noon – 12:30pm. Please wear a mask when you come to school.

Students will receive their official Move-A-Thon shirts, pedometers and a fun surprise from Mr. O’Brien!

Bet you’re wondering how we’re going to be doing the Move-A-Thon if we’re all at home? The plan is that all Sand Point students and staff will put on their Move-A-Thon shirts and pedometers to start moving around their neighborhoods from noon – 12:30 p.m. (before lunch) on Friday, December 11. We’d like for them to take their photo on their school devices and upload them to Seesaw as well as their steps. Mr. O’Brien will be sharing these details as we get closer.

The Move-A-Thon is a fundraiser and our hope is to raise $12,000 to support the PTA (including PE and recess equipment for when we return to school, our Family Support Program, supplies, classroom grants, and more). This year, we are thrilled once again to contribute 10% of our fundraising to The Eli’s Park Project, where Sand Point families live and play. We are also donating 10% of our fundraising to Rainier View Elementary PTA’s COVID Response Fund. Information is being mailed home to each family with pledge forms and FAQs.

Here’s the link to collect pledges: www.bitly.com/spemove2020. Please forward it on to your family and friends to help us reach our goal!

If you have any questions regarding the Move-A-Thon, please contact [email protected].
