Move-A-Thon is Nearly Here!

SPE Squirrels are on the Move!

Sand Point Elementary’s 4th Annual Move-A- Thon is October 24! Last year we raised over $20,000 to complete the Playground Project. Students moved and ran over 3,000 laps, totaling almost 420 miles! Ms. Withrow’s class repeated as K-1 champs and Ms. Herr’s class was the 2nd-5th trophy winner. Let’s try and top that this year!
Pledge Forms      Online Pledge Form            Facts

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The process is simple. Students will ask people for pledges.A pledge is a single donation and not based on laps or minutes walked. Pledges are from folks who agree to donate money for your participation in the Move-A-Thon. They may be friends, family, neighbors, and parents’ co-workers or business associates.  Cash or checks made out to “Sand Point PTA,” can be collected.  Please have each sponsor sign up and collect the donation immediately! 100% of the donations will benefit Sand Point students and donations are tax deductible!  Students turn in their sponsor sheet and money on the morning of the event, FRIDAY, October 24 by bringing both to school and GIVING THEM TO THEIR CLASSROOM TEACHER.
The Move-A-Thon will be held at school during the afternoon of Friday, October 24. The Move-a-thon will be held OUTSIDE the building on the playground. The students will be grouped by grade level (K-1 and 2-5) and will get 20 minutes to walk as many laps as they can.  Students will gather in the gym at their assigned time and will be given instructions on where to do and how their laps will be tallied (for prizes). More information about the logistics of the day will be given the week of the move-a-thon.

SPE PTA Auction Scheduled for May!

Planning for the PTA’s first auction in May 2013 begins Monday, November 19. This auction has the potential to raise a lot of money to benefit students and teachers at Sand Point Elementary. But we can’t do it without your help. We need your creative ideas, input, and expertise – and auction items if you have some to offer!

We are looking for 8-10 people to assist team leader, Megan Sun McIntosh, plan and organize this fun event. Responsibilities include finding and securing a location, soliciting donations from businesses and the community, and various odds-and-ends related to the event.

So, PLEASE join us at Metropolitan Market this Monday, November 19th, at 7pm, to start planning. If you’d like more information or have questions contact Juli Horan [email protected] or me, Carolyn Gray [email protected].

Squirrels on the Move!

The Second Annual SPE Move-A-Thon is scheduled for October 26, 2012!

The money raised by the pledges our students collect will be used to fund playground improvements, enrichment activities, and other PTA projects.

This year, we are offering neighborhood businesses the opportunity to support our school by becoming Move-A-Thon T-shirt Sponsors.  For a donation of $250 or more, businesses can have their corporate logo printed on our limited edition 2012-2013 Move-a-Thon t-shirt.  Larger donations will receive larger logos.  This will allow us to provide free t-shirts to all of our student participants and staff.  T- Shirt Sponsors will also receive a t-shirt as a “thank you”.  If you are interested in being a 2012 T-shirt Sponsor, please email [email protected] to reserve your spot by September 28, 2012. We will need a black & white logo in JPEG or Vector format & a t-shirt size as well.
